Your answer :
(b3)/(b2) = b5.
You added the exponents, apparently, as we did in multiplication.
We stated the rule for division of powers of numbers as
(bm)/(bn) = b(m − n)
and we gave you the problem of dividing b3 by b2. We set the problem up for you:
(b3)/(b2) = ?
Now, all you have to do to solve the problem is to put in the numerical values we gave you for m and n in the relationship used in division and write the answer. (m is the exponent of the dividend; n is the exponent of the divisor.) Figure it out and return to Page 50 and choose the correct answer.
