The expanded form of a decimal number is one in which only the coefficients are shown explicitly.
A decimal number in which only the coefficients are shown explicitly is written as 7, or 28, or 135, or 516.04. In other words, you have defined the normal way of writing a decimal number, in which the powers of the base are assumed but not shown.
An expanded form of a decimal number shows the powers of 10 which each coefficient multiplies, and looks like this:
5(102) + 1(101) + 6(100) + 0(10 − 1) + 4(10 − 2).
