You simply used 2 and 3 as factors. We didn’t ask you to use 3 as a factor - we wanted you to use 2 as a factor three times. The number 3 is not a factor itself in this case; it is the number of times 2 is to be used as a factor in the multiplication. In other words, we want the result of the multiplication 2 × 2 × 2.
