A little exponent goes a long way!

Your answer :
b times.
No, you haven’t quite grasped the terminology yet.
The letter b stands for base. The base is a number which is used as a factor. It is multiplied by itself a certain number of times, or raised to a power. The term n stands for the exponent, which tells to what power the base is to be raised.
Sometimes it helps in understanding if you substitute actual numbers for the letters in an expression. Let b = 2, and n = 3. Now if bn = 23, is 2 used as a factor only two times? Obviously not. It is used n times, and in this case, n = 3.
